Once again there will be a program full of events and entertainment for everyone to enjoy.
Beginning with a Pre-Field Day Farm Tour guided by Lyn Dohle on Tuesday 24th February; it will be an interesting day promising something for everyone and lots of fun. Numbers are limited so watch this space for an opportunity to book your seat.
At the Field Day you can show your support for the Royal Flying Doctor Service and be the winning bidder for the sheep of your choice to enter in the ever popular Sheep Race. 2009 will see the introduction of the Best Dressed Sheep competition so bring along all the trimmings you need to ensure your sheep is a contender for this prize at one of the most eagerly awaited events.
Take the Enviro-Trail to view the Trial Plots or take a seat and listen to what some of the Speakers have to offer. If food and wine is more to your taste you can sample some of the local produce and maybe listen to some live music over lunch. For those who’ve delayed that all important health check you’ll now have no excuse as an array of health services will be available on site all day. Enter some competitions and turn your old agricultural equipment into Wacky Ag Art or create a Farm Gadget and see if it’s a prize winning invention. To keep you informed throughout the day, media personality and MC Ian Doyle will join us again; there may even be a surprise for Country Hour fans.
This year the ladies will be well looked after with arrangements currently under way to bring you fashion parades, art and craft, jewelry, cosmetics, clothing and much, much more for yourself and, the home and family.
Renowned kelpie breeder and trainer, David Kellock of Kelvale stud will provide a working sheep dog demonstration on the day. After the Field Day, David will conduct a two day training workshop on Friday 27th and Saturday 28th February for those sheep farmers who would like to learn how to get the best out of what should be one of the greatest assets on the farm ~ your sheep dog. Details of the workshop and how to reserve your place (and the dogs) will follow.
The Kangaroo Island Field Day Committee is in the process of bringing you many other fantastic features for the Field Day and will update the Program details as they are confirmed.
